Disregarding if there was a maker that created you, or an accident that started the process of you evolving to become an intelligent mammal, you have to acknowledge that you are a human. You have a brain and you have the ability to contemplate, think, or in other words; you have consciousness. Disregarding your origins, those are facts. (The depth of contemplation may be limited by mental illness, but still the ability is still there, albeit limited
As a human being, you may sometime think about your origins, about where you came from and how life started. In order to start this process of “thinking” or “contemplating” you will have to utilize your brain.
To think, you use your knowledge, and that was acquired through your senses. As everything that entered your brain, and hence your mind, must have done so through one of the “inputs” of this processor called brain. Your eyes saw something, your ears heard something, your nose smelled something, your tongue tasted something, your skin felt something (touch), or your brain (mid-ear and cerebellum) felt a certain position or a certain movement (proprioception; position sense), from those senses you formed pieces of information, manipulated this information over and over making a thought and many other thoughts. So to think or to contemplate is virtually dependent on the functions of your senses.
Now imagine if God created a living form just like you but lacked the sense of “vision”. Or Imagine a species, that look just like you but evolved without acquiring the sense of vision. That species just like you is contemplating where it came from, making all scientific and philosophical arguments. But it cannot see. When you think of that species you realize how limited it is to judge the whole existence without ever seeing what you saw. For that species, it will never understand color, it will never understand visuospatial orientation, cannot see faces, cannot imagine a beautiful scenery, and so forth. It will never understand nor imagine what vision is. And it will never judge existence accurately because it lacks a fundamental sense. Obviously existence and nature would be so different to it, than it is to you. You “see”, it is blind.
So you have to acknowledge that all human beings are limited by their senses. Disregarding our origins, created or evolved, we are limited with what we have. We can only look with what we have, and until we evolve a new Sense, or are “given” a new sense by god, we can not exclude other dimensions of existence. In the same way, if we are devoid of a certain sense than we will lack judgement of certain dimension of our world. And do not even to try to imagine what that new sense could be, you will never be able to, your abstraction is limited by your knowledge…
So before you start an argument with somebody about atheism vs. a deity. you must confirm that disregarding our origins, we are limited with our senses, and will never be able to know for certainty that which we have no access to.
After you acknowledge that, you can start arguing. And mind you this is for Atheism vs. Deity, not Atheism vs. Religion.
