Our existence is in our minds

Image
Our existence is in our minds. Our existence is made by what we perceive; what we think, feel, what we see, hear, taste, smell and touch. How we reflect on what we perceive is our consciousness and it is what we are. It is created by experiences which have been ingrained in our memories, channeled by our environment maintained by this “mind”
We live in our minds, but life is much bigger than your mind. Sadly in our mundane lives we are trapped in our routine paths, our careers, our TVs, our families that most of us fail to appreciate what Life is.
Look beneath your feet while walking in a park. (That is, if you are one of those lucky people who have parks near by, or find it a fun thing to do) You will find mud and grass. Think of what life is to that little plant. Starting from a seed buried in dirt, waiting for water which set the plant free, building strength day by day as it goes through the dirt and mud, trying to reach the top and finally after days or weeks it makes it through the surface. What an achievement! And it builds on that achievement and then it stands tall and you look at it as just one the thousand of “grass leaves” or just another tree.
Look harder through the mud and you will find an ant, searching for that piece of bread you dropped from your sand-which. It finds it and ecstatically it goes to its peers sending signals that are transferred to the headquarters and 50 more ants are dispatched to move that piece of bread back to their homes. If look even harder you will find small moving dots that are some insects which you do not know their names, they are moving around in their lives, going through their “tasks”, trying to mate, trying to make children before they die in peace.
But you do not look at all of that, you do not notice it. Because you are on your task, trying to finish this walk through the park, trying to get to the other side of town, so you can be done with your task, go back home so you can wake up early for your big day at work. If you succeed at this meeting tomorrow and it will be one hell of an achievement. You will make it in your job, make your wife happy, and maybe afford to have happy children, so you can die with a meaningful life. But the problem is that in our minds, our life is so special. Life is only ours.
But may be we need to realize that our lives are all the same. Our minds are all the same. Our brains are all the same. The differences between each of us are maybe as the differences between a Himalayan tiger and an african cheetah, or a “big head ant” and a “leaf cutter ant” Different rituals, different skills, different interpretations, but ultimately same patterns of behavior. But in “our minds”, we believe we are very different, so special.
