R.R. Bowker issued their annual statistics on new books published:
291,920 for 2006. That's an increase of 120,000 over 20o5's figures.
The huge increase is the result of a new methodology Bowker used to calculate the figure.
Whether
one believes the new figure or not, there is no doubt that many new
books are published each year. This represents a great opportunity for
book printers. It also reinforces the competitive challenge faced by any
new author looking to break into the industry.
